Maintaining State
Many centuries ago a Buddhist monk wrote something to the effect of:
Use one eighth of your attention to focus on what you want to accomplish. With the other seven eighths, focus on maintaining your state.
If you do this and succeed at maintaining your state, but fail to in your accomplishment, you have succeeded. If, on the other hand, you succeed in your accomplishment but fail to maintain your state, you have failed.
Why do we want to accomplish anything?
Usually it is because we believe that if we do succed in our accomplishments that we will then have a desirable state. We often act like the dog in Aesop's fable with the bone in his mouth who, after looking into the pond and seeing an image of a bigger bone, goes after it, loses the one he has, and ends up with nothing.
Jesus said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33. He also said, "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Matthew 16:26.
InnerPeace is a workable tool to help you maintain your states. Try it for ten hours and see.
